the best present

The best present I received this Christmas was a legal document. A few pages of jargon and technicalities signed and dated by a judge, making my two beautiful nephews legally a part of our family.

Adoption is a funny thing—full of new emotions, hoops to jump through, and unexpected defeats and triumphs. But now that all is said and done, I’ve never experienced such beauty. As if everything fell into place just as it should have. I had no idea my heart could hold so much love.

My sister, brother-in-law, and their wonderful kids are a truly remarkable family that I have never been more proud to call my own. Welcome {officially} to the family, Isaiah and Sam!
